The first church in the Bay City was built in the 1850’s. It was a very famous Baptist church. But a hurricane destroyed the sanctuary somewhere around 1909.

Bay City is a home for the Matagorda Country Binding Nature Centre, which is a thirty five acre of expanse garden and beautiful wild life along with the river Colorado in Texas. The various other attractions in the Bay City include the Market Days every third Saturday, the Matagorda Country Museum, and a lot of varied little shops and pretty boutiques downtown. The Bay City Art League is something that is located in this place. It was recently renovate. The Art League is presently working on the project to revitalize the scene of art in Matagorda Country.
